Bob Creber, founder of Precision Mold Base Corp., dies at 81

According to an interview with Bob Creber in 2006, Precision Mold Base started as a local supplier of mold bases but grew steadily over the years, necessitating continued expansion. PMBC moved to its current facility in Tempe during the first half of 1993.

Creber was active in industry associations for the entire time he worked with PMBC, and held various positions in several trade groups, including chairman of the Western Region Moldmakers Div. of the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI), the Los Angeles Chapter president of the National Tooling & Machining Assn., VP of the National Moldmakers Div. of the SPI, and at-large representative on the policy board for the National SPI Moldmakers Div. Creber and his wife, Lou, attended almost all industry functions, including the annual conventions of the American Mold Builders Assn.

Bob Creber announced his retirement on Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, just three days after his 79th birthday, and retired at the end of that year. Creber leaves behind his wife Lou Creber, his son Mike, and two stepdaughters, Michelle Blauser of Mesa, AZ and Elizabeth Vranas of Richmond, VA. Creber prided himself in giving personal service to each of his customers, and served the mold manufacturing industry throughout the NAFTA region with custom mold bases.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 27 at Foothills Golf Club, 2118 E. Liberty Lane in Ahwatukee, starting at 2 pm. —[email protected]
