Belleperche back in charge at DMS
At the end of NPE2006, Dave Belleperche ended his 33-year career in mold component supply, retiring from DMS. But on Tuesday, June 2, just days before this year’s NPE trade show opens its doors, Belleperche became the new North American owner of DMS, with exclusive rights for sales of the company’s products in the Americas. DMS UK continues to exist as a separate entity.

“I just couldn’t handle retirement,” Belleperche told MPW, commenting on his return to the industry. When a broker from the venture capital group in England that owns DMS contacted him about buying the North American operations, Belleperche entered negotiations and the deal was signed on June 2. “It’s nice to get back into the business,” he added.
DMS has three North American facilities, one each in Oldcastle, ON, Fountain Valley, CA, and Schaumburg, IL. DMS supplies numerous mold components, mold polishing equipment, and some unique products such as tunnel gate inserts. “We also have some new things coming up to introduce at NPE,” Belleperche said from his office in Oldcastle. The Canadian office operates in 10,000 ft2 and has 13 employees.
No changes will be made to the executive management, with Frank Iatonna remaining as president and Mike Hicks as sales manager. Each of them has more than 25 years in the industry. “We’ll be expanding into Mexico and South America very soon,” Belleperche said. “It’s come full circle for me. The business started as a North American company, then was owned by a European company, and now it’s back to being owned by North Americans again.”
Belleperche will be in DMS’s booth (W102000) in the Moldmakers Pavilion at NPE. “I know that it’s good news to be able to support the industry, and I’m proud to be back,” said Belleperche. “It’s going to be a lot of work—times are not the best for mold shops right now, but I have faith in the industry to recover.” —[email protected]
