TPC Partners acquires Tray-Pak, appoints new CEO

TPC Partners, LLC, an affiliate of Archbrook Capital Management LLC, acquired a majority interest in Tray-Pak Corp. (Reading, PA), a large manufacturer of custom thermoformed plastic packaging. Tray-Pak employs 275. The acquisition marks the first major ownership transition of the company since David Bestwick founded the company in 1975. Bestwick, now retired, received the SPE's Thermoformer of the Year award at the NPE tradeshow in June 2009.

TPC Partners acquires Tray-Pak, appoints new CEO

Bestwick started the company as a cookie and candy tray maker, with 11 machines and 36 employees. Today, the company operates 44 machines in a 200,000-square-foot facility. The company forms packaging for the confectionery, bakery, food, medical, electronics and consumer products industries.

As a majority shareholder of Tray-Pak, TPC Partners says it will work closely with management to position the company for continued growth. John McGlinn, a partner of TPC Partners and a native of Reading, PA, said, "The company has a long record of providing high-quality products and services to its customers and we look forward to building upon that strong record of success."

In related news the processor announced that Scott Myers has joined the company as chief executive officer. Myers comes to Tray-Pak from WinCup Inc., a processor of disposable cups, bowls, containers and lids, where he was executive vice president. Previously, Myers was president and CEO of Superior Tube Company in Collegeville, PA, and held a number of leadership positions in general management, marketing and manufacturing at Carpenter Technology Corp. in Reading, PA.
